Ready to make something this summer? Let’s go!

Summer Media Camp is the perfect way for your children to explore something new, express their creativity, and experiment with technology. Working under the guidance of specially trained artists and educators, your child will collaborate with other children to create original movies, animated films, and video games, which will then be featured as part of a special showcase at the Museum. Each child will leave camp with the confidence and knowledge that they made something awesome!

Each camp session runs Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Children ages 9-13 can participate; projects vary week to week, and sessions can be taken independently or in any combination. Your child will receive an abundance of personalized attention: the average child-to-teacher ratio is 7:1. All levels of experience are welcome.

Sessions

Next Generation Animators
July 9–13
Discover how stop-motion animation can be used to make everyday objects come to life on screen. Working with computers, tablets, cameras, and crafts, children will work in small production teams to develop, direct, and film their own original animated movies.

Indie Game Makers
July 16–20
Campers will explore the process behind digital game-making, tackle fun design challenges, meet professional game developers, and experiment with game design tools to create original video games inspired by the world of independent video games.

Claymation Creators
July 23–27
Aspiring animators will explore the delightful process of Claymation (clay animation) as they learn the techniques necessary to make their own films. Using the Museum’s production equipment, children will design and create their own sets, props, and characters to animate their own original Claymation film.

Digital Game Designers
July 30–August 3
Campers will immerse themselves in digital game design, and explore what makes their favorite video games fun. They’ll remix classic video games by creating new levels, rules, and characters, while getting exclusive access to the Museum’s collection of arcade games.

Future Filmmakers
August 6–10
Learn how movies are made while exploring the Museum’s collection in a week packed with hands-on video-making experiences. Kids will collaborate in small production teams to create an original silent film that they will write, direct, produce, and star in.

Puppeteers in Training
August 13–17
Campers will create their own puppets, experimenting with a variety of styles and materials, which they then use to produce and perform an original filmed puppet show. Drawing inspiration from the Museum’s collection, they’ll learn about the art of televised puppetry.
